The Biomimetic Foundation Course

The biomimetic approach is one of the most exciting and important trends in modern restorative dentistry, aimed at reproducing the biomechanical and biological properties of natural teeth as accurately as possible. The course aims to provide a comprehensive yet systematic foundation in biomimetic thinking and to assist in the daily diagnosis and treatment planning of conservative dentistry. During the training, participants will learn the basic principles, tools, and
approach of the biomimetic approach. We will discuss in detail the importance of the tooth’s structural integrity, the diagnostic aspects of cracks, cusp damage, and various degrees of tooth structure loss, as well as their clinical significance in determining long-term prognosis.

Dr. Marcell Kálmán

He received his dental degree from Semmelweis University in 2021, graduating summa cum laude. Since September 2021, he has been working as a restorative dentist and prosthodontist at the Budaörs Dental family practice. In 2024, he received his specialist certification in prosthodontics and begin working at DRZS Dental Studio as well, primarily as a biomimetic restorative dentist. Since 2020, he has been a regular participant and co-organizer of the “Youth for Youth” courses.

He first encountered biomimetic dentistry in 2018, during his third year of university, at Dr. András Forster’s course on microscopic direct anterior restorations.

Subsequently, in the spring of 2021, he participated in the course titled “Biomimetic Fiber Reinforcement in Dentistry” led by Dr. Péter Farkas and Dr. András Volom.

In 2022, he attended Dr. András Forster’s lecture on the biomimetic posterior masterclass.

In 2023, he attended Dr. András Forster’s course on biomimetic endo-resto and Dr. Márk Fráter’s lecture titled “Biomimetic Direct Restorative Techniques for the Restoration of Root-Canaled and Vital Teeth.” He teaches a foundational course on dental photography for students.

In 2024, he will participate in Dr. András Forster’s two-day biomimetic masterclass and one-day digital workflow continuing education course.

In 2024, he will serve as an assistant at the Dental World biomimetic posterior course.

In addition to these activities, he applies biomimetic principles and techniques in his daily clinical practice. He regularly follows and studies international and domestic professional literature and participates in other continuing education courses on various topics.

I have not attended such a well-organized and excellent course for a long time.
